For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God (vs. 5-8) Romans 8:1-39
One of the greatest battle in our lives is the “battle of the mind.” The mind is the place where the direction of life is decided. The mind is so important because it`s the crucible where life is shaped, and hence the reason why the mind is always constantly or contently battled for everyday. Everyday God is contending for your life, He wants to win your life; He wants to speak with you and He wants to impact your life.
In the same way, there are many other forces in life trying to win your mind. Take advert for example! Why do companies spend so much money in advert? It is because they want to win your mind. They want to persuade your mind to think about them and their products.
The mind is a great battlefield. For some people, it gets to the point where their mind is completely taking over by evil forces, and they begin to suffer for depression to the extent that it becomes a psychiatric case completely. If we can think like what GOD wants us to think and see like what God wants us to see, then there is nothing impossible for us.
Psalm 127:1 says unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. Without the help of the LORD, it is useless to build a house or a city. If the LORD is not helping the builders then the building is going to collapse. If the LORD does not keep a family, a city, a country, or a nation, then the watchman stays awake in vain.
Now in our own generation we have seen countries disappear! Look at Libya, and what happened to Gaddafi! Look at Iraq, and what happened to Saddam Hussein! Unless the LORD builds a house, unless the LORD watches over a city or a country, it is only a matter of time, because everything will disappear. Unless the LORD builds a house, they labor in vain who builds it. Unless the LORD watches over you, everything will turn out to be wasted. Without the help of the LORD, it is useless to build. So we need God to move and hold our lives, because without God everything may look rosy and nice for a season but the end of it all will be a great disaster. If nothing else, there is heaven waiting for us. Any life without Christ will end up in hell. It’s the plans of the devil to deceive man and make us believe there is no hell, but God says there is heaven and there is hell, and heaven is God`s divine plan for us, therefore we need to work with God to be with Him in eternity.
GOD is building our lives, and as we work with Him, He will do more of what He is doing, praise GOD! Hallelujah!
Looking back to our lives, we thank God for so many good and wonderful things that the LORD has done for us, some of these things are that:
God is building us together as one great family.
God is building us as church.
God is building our believe in Him (2 Chronicles 20:20 tells us that the nation was under so much pressure, the enemies has attacked them on every side, but when they stood together God spoke, and with that they were able to win). Believe in the LORD your God and so shall you be established. Believe in His prophet and so shall you prosper. I want you to believe in God more, because as you stick closely to God, He is able to build your life.
We thank for you also believing in me, your Pastor and for honoring me as your Pastor. 2 Chronicles 20:20 says……believe in the LORD your God, and so shall you be established; believe in His prophets, and so shall you prosper. So thank you for honoring the grace of God upon my life.
We also thank God for the difficult circumstances or situations that we have been able to conquer, we thank God for those long lonely nights, when everything seemed dark and look difficult to see. We can remember so many times in our lives when life was so difficult, times of great loneliness, times of great betrayer, But God saw us through, and we overcame by the blood of the lamb and by the words of our testimonies.
Brothers and sister, when God builds you, there will be a sweet outcome. Romans 8:28 tells us all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Vs. 30 says those whom He predestined, these He also called, those whom He called, these He also justified, and those whom He justified, these He also glorified. And in Vs 31, He said what then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Vs. 35 goes on to say, who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulations, or distress, or persecution, or famine or nakedness or peril or sword? And vs. 37 says in all these things we are more than conqueror through Him who loved us.
